Trying to connect MacBook Pro to LG 42LV355U TV

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to connect my MacBook Pro 13 (late 2012 model) to my LG 42LV355U TV using one of the 3 in 1 mini display port adapters from ebay via HDMI that can be seen here:

Once everything is connected all I get on the TV is a blue screen.

Are there any settings that need to be configured on the MacBook Pro to make this happen that I am missing like a PC?
