After using migration assistant to transfer my files from my old imac to my new one, i am unable to fing my Gmail accounts or add them to apple mail, any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Try adding them in the Internet Accounts preference pane. If you can't, describe what happens.
I have tried this, i add all the details and password complete the setup but the new mailbox does not appear, i have been able to set up other mail accounts (ntlworld) but gmail wont have it.
The accounts are, or are not, listed in the preference pane?
No they do not appear in the preference pane either.
If you've activated 2-step verification, you need to generate an application-specific password in your Google account and enter it instead of the login password you use on the website.
