I updated my phone and now I am getting my sons text messages. How do I fix this problem? We turned his icloud off but that didn't help

I updated my phone and now my sons texts are coming to me. I turned off icloud on his phone and still have the same problem.

You are getting your son's iMessages, not text messages as in SMS/MMS.

This means the same Apple ID was registered with iMessage on his iPhone or iOS device and on your iPhone. You or your son need to use a different Apple ID for iMessage and you can continue using the same Apple ID for iTunes Store purchases/downloads if you are sharing the same Apple ID for that as well.
