Procedure entry point AVCFPlayerAppliesMediaSelectionCritariaAutomaticallyKey could not be located in the dynamic link library. I've tried everything can someone please help!?

I've installed/uninstalled itunes many times I have the apple application support installed after that I got this--> "The procedure entry point AVCFPlayerAppliesMediaSelectionCritariaAutomaticallyKey could not be located in the dynamic link library AVFoundationCF.dll." What do I need to do to get this fixed? I would be much appreciated if someone could walk me through this. I'm not that very technical and I'm seeking help from anyone. I just want to be able to start listening to my music again.

That one can be produced if you have an older version of Apple Application Support on the PC than is required by iTunes version 11.1.4.62. (The required version of Apple Application Support is included in the standard iTunes installers, but for some reason it hasn't been updating properly for some folks.)

Let's try updating your Apple Application Support to version 3.0 by doing a standalone Apple Application Support install.

Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").

Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.

Does it install properly for you? If so, can you launch iTunes without the error now?

If instead you get an error message during the install, let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)

🙂 You're welcome, Cambre.

As a note to other folks, although my reply earlier was related to the AVCFPlayerAppliesMediaSelectionCriteriaAutomaticallyKey entry point error for iTunes 11.1.4.62, you can get the same error on an iTunes 11.1.5.5 for the same reason. (iTunes version 11.1.4.62 requires an AAS version 3.0, and iTunes 11.1.5.5 requires an AAS version 3.0.1 ... the error message usually indicates that folks have either an AAS 2.3.4 or 2.3.6 installed.)

The problem often arises after folks have done an iTunes update or install and received an Error 2 message after the install, indicating that Apple Application Support hasn't installed at all. One way of attempting to get past that has been to try installing the QuickTime Player (because the QuickTimeInstaller.exe installer bundle also contained an AAS version, and that would sometimes install when the AAS inside an iTunesSetup.exe or iTunes64Setup.exe wasn't installing.) That used to work fine for iTunes version 11.1.3.8, which only required an AAS version 2.3.4 to run. But the AAS versions in the QuickTime installers haven't been updated to either 3.0 or 3.0.1 (The QuickTime version 7.7.4 installer contains an AAS version 2.3.4 and the QuickTime 7.7.5 installer contains an AAS version 2.3.6.) So folks with an Error 2 after an iTunes install using the "install QuickTime" workaround nowadays end up swapping their error 2 launch error for an AVCFPlayerAppliesMediaSelectionCriteriaAutomaticallyKey/Error-7 launch error combo.

Hi b noir. I am having the same issue. I'm only slightly computer literate, so I have downloaded winrar, but I'm not seeing how to get to the itunessetup.exe to right click on it. It isn't under winrar. Can you explain that for me? Thanks so much!

If you download a fresh copy of the iTunes setup file it will normally end up in your Downloads folder.

Had same problem. Itunes.exe Entry point not found

The procedure entry point AVCFPlayerApplesMediaSelectionCriteriaAutomaticallyKey could not be located in the dynamic link library AVFoundationCF.dll

Here's what fixed it without uninstalling anything or even rebooting.

Opened Apple Software Update.

Tools \ Open Updates Folder.

Reinstalled AppleApplicationSupport

Reinstalled AppleMobileDeviceSupport

Reinstalled iTunes as Repair.

Thanks especially to B Noir for the helpful advice.

I followed the steps you proposed when answering Cambre1, even ran through every single installer that was featured in the iTunes64Setup folder, and I still get this message every time:

ADiAdID_AcquireMatchSlotIfNecessary could not be located in the dynamic link library iAdCore.dll.

It then tells me that iTunes was not installed correctly and says to reinstall it although I've done that over 20 times already, even disabled my antivirus but that didn't do me any good.

In the same box it mentions a certain "Error 7 (Windows error 127)

Please help me fix this!!
