Safari on my iMac will not load the Apple homepage, netflix or load anything from google. Anything else seems to work fine. Can anybody help?

The very first thing I would try is to go into Safari Preferences > Privacy > Remove All Website Data.
Click that bar, and then look at the list, and choose all the Apple and Google cookes.
Delete just those.
Then QJIT Safari, and restart.
Let us know how you make out, OK?
Bee, thank you for your response. I did as you suggested as well as trashing all caches from The HD LIBRARY as well as the cookies folder. No change. Still not responding. We did just let it run and the apple page eventually loaded as well as the netflix home page. Took over 5 min for each page. Netflix response of course was too slow to actually stream anything. I am clueless as you can tell as to what to try next. Have read some on the help pages about the DNS being problematic? Am grateful for any help you might be able to offer. Goep.

What Safari Extensions are installed?
Go into Safari Prefs>Extensions, and make sure it's turned off.
Go into HD System Preferences> Accounts, and make a new User account.
While in the new account, does Safari still fail for those sites?
Try a new browser. Does it work in Firefox?
Thanks you for your help. After trying everything suggested, Safari was still not loading Apple or Netflix. Everything else loaded just fine and Firefox worked fine too. So as a last resort we restarted our router. WaLa! Should have done that at the beginning.
