I can't turn on my MacBook Air

My battery powered down in my MacBook Air and I plugged in the charger. The LED light is red, and the computer will not come on. What can I do?

I understand that your MacBook Air is not responding or turning on. Let's try resetting the System Management Controller for your computer:


Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)

After performing normal troubleshooting, these symptoms may indicate that an SMC reset may be necessary:

Power

The computer doesn't respond to the power button when pressed.

A portable Mac doesn't appear to respond properly when you close or open the lid.

The computer sleeps or shuts down unexpectedly.

The battery does not appear to be charging properly.

The MagSafe power adaptor LED doesn't appear to indicate the correct activity.


See the above article for steps on resetting the SMC, and what to do prior to the reset.


You may also find this as a good opportunity to reset the NVRAM:
