I have lots of photos in photoshop bridge that I want to back up on my external hard drive. Does time machine do that automatically?

Yes - BUT - that does not involve iPhoto in any way and the iPhoto users here are not the best experts in Time Machine - I would suggest you ask iPhoto questions here and Time Machine questions in the forum for your OS to be sure of getting the best answers - for example TM does not backup the iPhoto libaryif iPhtoo is running - there certainly may be special cases with Adobe software that iPhoto users ar not aware of
