Q: Having issues opening 'Number files' since I downloaded Maverick. Is there a way to uninstall Maverick, back to Mountain Lion?

I have existing Numbers files that won't open, saying that I need to upgrade Numbers.  I have the updated version but having no luck!  I don't know if moving over to Maverick had anything to do with this.  Is there a way I could un-install Maverick and try going back to 'Mountain Lion'?

iMac (20-inch Mid 2007), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

If you don't have proper backup of all your important data and files, downgrading back to OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is going to be a difficult and tedious doing as it involves a complete clean, re installation of OS X  10.8 erasing all your data and applications and having to, basically, reinstall everything.

Apple made sure that the new iWork apps didn't overwrite the old iWorks apps.

If your original iWorks apps are '09 or later, you can still use your old iWork apps to open your previous documents.

If you are having any other issues with OS X Mavericks, Please download, install and run Etrecheck.

Etrecheck was developed as a simple Mac diagnostic tool by a regular Apple Support forum user and technical support contributor named Etresoft.

Etrecheck is a small, unobstrusive app that compiles a snapshot of your entire Mac hardware system and installed software. This is a free app that has been honestly created and provided to help diagnose issues with Macs and the new OS X 10.9 Mavericks. It is not malware and can be safely downloaded and installed onto your Mac.

Make sure you're running Numbers 3.1 and not the older version in the iWork '09 folder.

My old version of Numbers - v. 2.3 (from iWork 09) works very well in Mavericks (and I also have the new app store version 3.1 which will also work but after testing it,  I've chosen to ignore it, preferring to use the old version). In any case, if you have the new version installed, it is set to open any older file by default and you should be able to use it.

Please post back with which version(s) you have installed.
