Mail Usage is 3.1 GB. I deleted over 100 emails and still at 3.1 GB. (iPad2, 7.0.4)

Two thoughts:
1. "Deleted" emails may well still be in your trash folder.
2. Deleting 100 emails may well not delete much space. You should seek those emails with big attachments. If you just deleted emails with a few words, that will save very little space.
Thanks for the ideas, but I have cleared out the trash and the old sent messages. I'm down to only 8 emails and none of them have attachments, but still at 3.1 GB.
Also I have the same configuration on my iPhone 5s and it uses only 250 MB.
At the Genius Bar the problem was solved by deleting the individual email account and then adding it back in. Usage size went from 3.2 GB down to 202 MB.
