deleting pages-thumbnail view doesn't work

I am trying to use my previous newsletter template, which I made in the new pages. Opened it up. Thumbnail view had about 20 blank pages inserted in between my good pages. Followed directions on pages help to delete them-no luck. I did manage to delete one of my good pages though. The yellow bar around the thumbnail includes multiple pages, which means they would all be deleted, including my good pages. I am in layout mode. I have not enjoyed using the new pages. It is giving me grief. So, how can I delete those blank pages, which I do not want?
