How to set up apple headphone's microphone as external input for Garage band.

I have been trying to use my new apple headphones as a microphone on garageband but the input source can online be selected as mono 1 or 2 built-in microphone or stereo 1/2 built-in microphone. The built in microphone creates horrible noise. How do I set up the headphone microphone as my recording technique?
