Multiple Takes Feature Not Working!?!?! PLEASE HELP!!

Okay, so

I'm using GarageBand 10.0.1 and I'm recording vocals. However when I try to record multiple takes on a track, it just records over my last recording. No number pops up in the corner like it's supposed to and it's the most frustrating thing in the world. Does anyone have any idea what I could be doing wrong and what I can do so that the multiple takes feature works.

Oh and P.S. I'm using GarageBand for Mac

MacBook Pro, Mac OS 9.0.x, Using GarageBand 10.0.1 for Mac

only two thoughts come to mind right away: did you turn on the Cycle Region button, and are you recording _straight_ through without stopping? Both need to be true.

I have my cycle region button selected already. I tried recording all the way through and then the audio region showed up gray with a blue circle in the corner. The blue circle isn't selectable though :/
