Kernel panic when trying to install Snow Leopard 10.6 in MacBook Pro

When I upgraded my iPhone & iPad to iOS7.0.4, neither could sync with my laptop anymore to transfer data because I needed an iTunes not compatible with MacBook Pro 10.5.8,

I bought a family pack install disc of 10.6 OSX Snow Leopard, backed up data, then deleted so there was over 200 GB space. I checked and had the system requirements. I think it said install disc on the disc. All seemed to go well, and I got all the typical instructions, started it and said it would take 45 minutes. Perhaps 20 minutes or more into the process, the screen turned grey. I have followed the instruction to power off then power on. That does not work. The DVD will not eject. My computer is completely non-functional as is. I have a presentation to give in 13 hours. How do I get out the DVD? How do I either go back to 10.5.8 or go forward to 10.6?

Below is the log from the Kernel Panic.

I solved it myself:

That link had ways to eject the DVD that would not work because the computer was stuck on the warning screen, so there was no way to use menus that require a working operating system. i found this however:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1533?viewlocale=de_de&locale=de_de

The method there that worked was to hold down the eject key while the computer is powering on. Almost immediately the install DVD ejected. Once it ejected, I took my finger off the eject button and the computer was able to boot up normally. When I checked, the installation to 10.6.8 was completed and fully functioning. The entire problem was caused by the DVD being stuck in the optical drive.

By the way, I DO back up before starting an upgrade, but I have no idea how you would restore a computer that has ceased responding to its keys and has no menus. If it were still stuck in greyed down screen with message above with DVD stuck in the drive, I would have no idea how to follow your instruction "just restore the backup".
