Feb 10, 2014 1:45 PM in response to Penny Hopeby Penny Hope,Hi a brody
Its a Macbook pro 13" MD101x/a 2.5Ghz
When I hit the Audio Midi Setup utility it does nothing, it doesn't open at all
The cable was brought from Macfxit in Aus, the invoice doesn't say the manufacturer, just the description Mini Display port / Thunderbolt to HDMU cable w/Audio. Don't know what they should cost, this was $19.95 - too cheap?
I've contacted their support and they have offered to swap it if it turns out to be fautly so I have 'some' comfort that they are not selling rubbish.
Needing to check if I'm doing something wrong first though, yes?

Feb 10, 2014 2:00 PM in response to Penny Hopeby Penny Hope,Just found a comment on a review for a similar cable which might alude to it being an Apple problem?
The only let down is the lack of audio support. Even though audio is supported by the adapter and by Mini DisplayPort specifications, it currently does not work. Hopefully in the future Apple will add audio support through a software update, but as of now there no way to know if that’s even an option.

Feb 11, 2014 2:00 AM in response to Penny Hopeby a brody,Are you sure your model actually supports audio over Displayport?

Feb 11, 2014 2:24 AM in response to Penny Hopeby a brody,Also the link you have is under the cover of blue, I can barely read it. 10.5.7 didn't support audio over Displayport. They should be referred to the HT4241 link. After all, if 10.6 was released August 28, 2009, and the only Macs that support it are after that date, then 10.5.7 won't do audio like that person says.

I only brough this MacBook Pro 17 Oct 2013 so it does fit into the ones that do support the audio, its only 4 months old.
That link you can just click on it and it goes there? I tried it and it worked on mine. Or copy and paste?
