Macbook Pro 13" will not boot from internal drive.

Mid 2010 Macbook Pro 13".

Sudden death of Macbook, would not boot.

Gray apple screen, automatic shut-off 10 seconds later.


What I've done since then

Taken out HDD and had it reformatted and erased. (using external HDD-dock)

Installed Mavericks through downoad, still plugged into external dock.

Successfully installed and booted Mavericks.


Plugged HDD into machine (internal).

No boot.

Disk verify

Returned no problem.


Disk permissions

Group differs on "Library/Java"; Should be 0; group is 80

Permissions differ on "Library/Java"; Should be drwxr-xr-x; they are drwxrwxr-x

Permissions differ on "System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.fra...ruby.2.0.dylib" Should be lrwxrwxrwx ; they are lrwxr-xr-x.


Repairing disk-permission failed.


Trying to set HDD as boot.

Bless tool unable to set as startdisk.


Installing Mavericks from internal conection, using Recovery mode

Unable to install, try restarting the application.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

Hello Kawl,


As you said that you wer able to Install Mac Os X Mavericks when connected the Hard Disk Extenally but unable to boot when using the same Hard Disk as Internal Hard Disk which means there are possibility of an issue with Flex Cable ( the cable used for connecting Hard Disk with Logic Board Internally) So visit nearest Apple Store and get a Flex cable replaced and it should work.
