Following others' advice on here I've tried to close the open apps. (I didn't even know they were open!) I've double tapped the home page to bring them all up but I can't get them to shake so I can close them. I can do it on the ordinary screen so I do know how to do it but I just can't get them to shake when I've got them up at the bottom. I've tried rebooting by holding hold and sleep button but this made no difference. Any ideas?

Close all apps in the multi-task window
1.Double-click the Home button.
2. Swipe the app's preview up to close it.
3. Preview will fly off the screen.
iOS 7 How to Close Apps
Double Tap the Home Button... Then swipe the App (not the icon) Upwards... Tap the Home Button when finished.

Try This...
Close All Open Apps... Sign Out of your Account... Perform a Reset... Try again...
Reset ( No Data will be Lost )
Press and Hold the Sleep/Wake Button and the Home Button at the Same Time...
Wait for the Apple logo to Appear...
Usually takes about 15 - 20 Seconds... ( But can take Longer...)
Release the Buttons...

Also consider Deleting any Apps you have Purchased / Downloaded but you now never use...
Sorted! I was trying to make the apps shake at the bottom of the screen, when what I needed to do was swipe up on them to close them. Doh!!!
