I have created a keynote presentation on my imac but when I transfer it to my MacBookPro, the bacground graphic is missing. Both computers run Keynote 6.1 (1769) on OS 10.9.1.
Here is a screenshot on the imac
and that's what I see on the laptop:

try this, it works when clients send me there files:
View > Edit master slides > click on the black background to select it then press delete
It doesn't let me select the background as an object. I can change it to a solid color but can't select to delete it.
Try selecting no fill to reveal the image, if that dont work you will need to set the theme and master slide again from slide view.
No fill gives an all black background.
This theme is no longer part of Keynote 6. On my imac I have it as a custom theme and loads properly. However, I don't know where to look for the theme files so I can transfer them on my laptop.
After posting the problem I received an email from Apple's iWork team requesting details. I heard nothing back, but miraculoulsy the problem has now been resolved, at least in the most recent update Keynote 6.2 (1861).
