How do I insert blank bars for composing additional music at the top
How do I insert a large blank space before my 1st bar, so that I can develope motifs and themes that I have worked up already beginning at my current bar one? The goal would be to insert say... 32 measures at the beginning and have logic renumber them (shift where bar 1 would now be) - then use that space to work up to the material I have at currently at bar 1.
I often find I've fully orchestrated a theme or created a groove right from the beginning (as I experiment with adding textues and layers) but then realize I should have been developing motifs or slowly building up groove elements many bars earlier.
I'm just trying to figure out how to add 4, 8, 16, 32 or more bars before what I have at bar 1. Kind of like composing in reverse a bit. Like the practice of writing the introduction to a book (after writing the actual book) but placing it at the beginning of the book.
I've been reading post that say this is not a good idea, that somehow logic might not like this. What? I thought logic was somewhat similar to a word processor for music. It should be easy to add music to the top of the score just like its easy to add text to the top of your first page of a word document.
Am I missing something? Shouldn't Logic be able to just renumber/shift where bar one is? I was hoping to find some global parameter that could insert blank bars before or after any particular point, including the beginning. Is there perhaps something in advanced settings I have to turn on?
Thanks for your help/advice
