Feb 10, 2014 1:10 PM in response to mtrexasby Wayne Contello,You can check to see if it is at least detected using the application:
"System Information" located in the folder "/Applications/Utilities/"
check in the Hardware > USB section
If the "FaceTime" camera is in the list then I suggest rebooting. If you have an application open that is using the camera then you will not be able to access the camera from a different application-- so make sure all apps that use the camera are closed.

Apr 8, 2014 7:12 AM in response to mtrexasby EZ Jim,iSight camera failure after OS X 10.9 Mavericks update
If you are not using OS X 10.9.x, start with the How to Troubleshoot iSight suggestions. (Over time, Apple has changed the built-in camera's name on newer Macs from "iSight" to "FaceTime" and then to "FaceTime HD." Regardless of the name of your Mac's built-in camera, the same info and troubleshooting applies.)

Aug 3, 2014 9:11 AM in response to jipalaciosby EZ Jim,If System Info still does not recognize your camera as a USB Device after reinstalling OS X, contact Apple or your Apple Authorized Service Provider for help.
(If you have installed AirParrot to stream media to an Apple TV with a pre-2011 MacBook Pro, you can also try uninstalling it before seeking professional help.)
