Q: once you gift card balance is applied to your itunes account how do you use it to purchase music

You buy something

The question is how do you buy something....where is the purchase option?

Look in the iTunes Store.  Find something you want, and click on its price.

When I click on the item, it keeps asking me for credit card information.  It does not give me an option to use my balance.

Thanks to everyone for trying to help me on this, but it must be something wrong in my system, so I will contact Apple.

Lin -- Just to make sure -- is the thing you are trying to buy a gift for someone?  If so, a credit card is required.  The Store does not allow the use of a credit balance to purchase a gift.
