Is there unlocked iPhone 5s work with GSM & CDMA carrier?

Which model of iPhone 5s that is unlocked and can work with GSM based carrier and can work with CDMA based carrier when need to switching? e.g. I need to use the iPhone with GSM based carrier (SIM) and at the same time I want to change to a CDMA based carrier inside and outside USA.

If there is a model as I'm requiring, does the LTE service will be working normally (if we said the carrier providing it).

How can I find my need one through the Apple website when ordering (I couldn't find a tap to select which type, only fnishing, carrier and capacity)

This link might help to undersatnd what I'm saying, if I couldn't explain what I mean?

No, what Meg is saying is that there is no such thing as an unlocked CDMA phone. CDMA phones must be provisioned in firmware at the time they are sold for the one, single specific CDMA network they will work with. And they will only ever work, as far as connecting to a CDMA network, on the network they were sold to work with.

GSM phones are very different - they get ALL of their connection information from the SIM card, so simply changing SIMs allows them to connect to different networks.

Apple sells unlocked GSM iPhones. ALL iPhones sold for a CDMA network will only EVER work for that one single CDMA network - that cannot be changed.

If you want an unlocked iPhone, then buy a GSM unlocked iPhone from Apple. If you want a CDMA iPhone, then decide on a carrier and buy a CDMA iPhone for that carrier. A CDMA iPhone may be unlocked for GSM networks, but it will never be able to change the CDMA network it can use.

Verizon iPhone 5c and 5s are permanently locked in CDMA to Verizon USA. Their GSM SIM slots are unlocked.

Sprint iPhone 5c and 5s are permanently locked in CDMA to Sprint USA. Their GSM SIM slots are locked, but may be unlocked (by Sprint, after some period of service with Sprint) for use on non-USA GSM networks.

Online or in the store, the only "unlocked" iPhone 5s sold by Apple in the USA is the GSM-only model A1533 iPhones.

Just to be sure that I got it right.

So, if I'll choose Verizon 5s, it will work in CDMA premanently in USA and I'll be able to connect a GSM SIM when I need to change (inside and outside USA).

...................

Another thing:

Could other CDMA carriers (outside USA) physically reprogramming the Verison 5s to work with thier network? which the GSM SIM slot will stay unlocked.

I heard this from few people but I'm not sure.

Be sure to reread what Michael and Meg said...a CDMA phone can only work on the CDMA network for which it was sold and cannot be unlocked except by a difficult process. The GSM radio is unlocked as a requirement on Verizon. But to unlock, actually to change, the CDMA radio means you must "flash" the firmware chip. That process can only flash it to work on another specific network, so it will then be locked to that network.

Yes, a Verizon iPhone 5s will work with any GSM carrier, but will only work with one CDMA carrier - Verizon in the USA. Note that you cannot buy a Verizon iPhone 5s from the online Apple store without signing up for a contract. Again, the only unlocked, no contract phone sold by Apple is the GSM model A1533.

While I cannot speak for the rest of the world, I have in years past used several USA CDMA service providers. Not a single one will even entertain the mere idea of flashing a phone you bring to them, and none have the hardware or the personal trained to do so in their retail stores. You buy one of their phones, pre-provisioned for their network, or you do not get service with them. I have never heard of a foreign CDMA carrier offering to do so either so if there are any, I'd wager they are dang few and very, very far between.
