How to delete GoPhoto.it Installer (Safari)?

Today I accidentally installed GoPhoto.it Installer (I wanted to download a song), but now I can't shut my computer down because of it. I looked up online and saw it was a virus, I already deleted it from the safari extensions, but nothing's change. And there's a little GoPhoto.it icon (a box) on the Dock, i tried to delete it but I can't.

Help, please 😢

Thank you! It worked for the GoPhoto thing!

Unfortunately I asked my Dad to help me, he looked quickly here, without trying what you were saying and install ANOTHER sort of virus: Genieo (thanks Dad).

So GoPhoto.it is gone, but now there's Genieo installing something (there's a little house and it says "building your personalized newspapper"").

I tried everything, but can't get ride of it 😢

Thank you for the replies!

Hi guys,

I need your help please. Just like some of you, I accidently installed GoPhoto.it and managed to delete it via the instructions that I found on safemac. There is nothing in extensions (safari or firefox) and looks clear but that icon (box) is still on the Dock and when I tried to shut down the window appears saying that GoPhoto.it is running. I had to close my mac via Force Shut Down.

Any suggestions of how to remove it as I'm completely lost. I thought it might be that other Genieo thing but I don't have the "house" icon and looks clear

Thank you in advance

Forcing your computer to shut down was unnecessary - you could have just force quit the installer - but should solve the issue. You should be able to delete the installer now. You should also double-check the removal instructions for GoPhoto.it and Genieo in my Adware Removal Guide, once the installer is gone. Note that not having the Genieo "house" icon does not necessarily mean Genieo isn't installed. Some variants do not include the Genieo application.

Thank you Thomas_r. I did follow the instructions that I found on that removal guide. None of the files that I had to delete were found on my computer and after several attemps to find them and re-starting the computer that image of the box was gone from my deck. So its Genieo and GoPhoto.it free now.

Once again thank you for answering.

I suspect it's just the last file you downloaded to your Download folder on the right side of your dock. When you hover your cursor over the icon, what does it say?

If "Downloads" then hold the control key down as you click on it and choose "Open Downloads" then drag the file to the Trash Can.

I accidentally downloaded Gophoto.it Installer, also. When I researching to figure out what it is and how to get rid of it, I found this site

http://www.thesafemac.com/malicious-download-installs-genieo-and-gophoto-it-adwa re/

This guy is familiar with Gophoto.it Installer and Genieo. He explains his research and that those 2 programs are from the same company in Isreal. He explains how to get rid of Genieo. Fortunatley for me, I didn't have (or so it seems) any other things like Firefox extensions, etc. with the Gophoto.it Installer. So, the only thing that I needed to do was force quit the application & empty my trash. I haven't found anything else & hope there isn't anything else. Good luck.

Have Fun,

I am having the same issue. Last week I accindentally installed GoPhoto.it too. I have already deleted the extensions from Safari but this didn't help, in fact nothing changed at all. Some of you are talking about an app icon on your dock, but in my case it is not there. I have searched everywhere in my finder for any source related to this software but it seems completely invissible. Is anyone familiar whith this problem or do I perhaps have another problem?

Hope anyone can help me!
