My phone wont restore. It is showing error 3194. How do I fix this?

My battery went flat. I charged the phone (Iphone 5) up again and tried to open using my fingerprint. Got a message that I needed to enter the PIN because it was restarting. Entered the PIN - a number engraved on my mind for years - but it would not accept it. Got locked out.

Followed Apple support's on-line help to the "T" , but now have a phone that won't restore.

Phoned Apple. There's no-one there until tomorrow morning.

Any ideas what to do, please? Other than bin every Apple product in the house (which I feel like doing after one problem after another for the last two weeks).

Oh - and yes....Am i the only person who doesn't understand the Apple jargon? I just want a phone that works. It isn't my hobby. I have better things to do than mess about with this rubbish.

Has your iPhone been hacked or jailbroken? That is often the cause of error 3194.

Or if your iPhone has not been hakced or jailbroken, have you tried to download and use Apple's beta software on your iPhone?

Thanks, but no. My phone has not been hacked or jailbroken and I haven't tried to download anything. I've never even heard of Apple's beta software!

Oh, perhaps you didn't see Error 3194 - I just assumed you did because of the article you attached.

Perhaps your problem is only that your passcode is not accepted. If that is true, this explains how to proceed:

Thanks again. The second time I tried to restore I got error 3004.

My first problem was that the passcode was not accepted and I got locked out. I followed the support instructions (the same ones you have shared with me on your link). Everything was synced/backedup to i-tunes. (Took 40 minutes or so). When i tried to restore, I got the error 3194 message.

I am at my wits end with this.....It is a phone supplied by my employer to replace an i-phone 4 that I had for two years without any problems. I got the new phone two weeks ago and followed the backup instructions then but the backup lost all of my contacts (business colleagues and clients numbers I had builkt up over the years) and I spent more than 16 hours the week before last on the phone to Apple trying, without success, to get them back. Hence my tetchiness about Apple.

Today's problem feels like adding insult to injury and will undoubtedlky eat into a huge chunk of my limited time. Come back BlackBerry, all is forgiven!

Ah, an employer-supplied iPhone ... so perhaps you are trying to use your employer's WiFi which likely has security software.

You might try the steps listed in "Address TCP/IP filtering, firewall ..." in the TS4451 article you attached.
