The add printer sees the MF8350 on the network, but even though I've installed UFRII and the MF printer 'drivers and software' from canon's website, it does not recognize the driver, and I don't know which specific file I can choose out of the installed files in /Library/Printers/Canon that will fix this.
Please help!

Try restarting the Mac. This can help with updating the installed drivers list.
After the restart, with the MF selected in the Add printer window, if the Use menu does not automatically select the supporting driver, change the Use menu to Select Software. The MF should be present in the Printer Software window that appears.
Generally I have better luck going to the printer manufacturers web site and downloading the latest drivers from there. The very latest drivers for the Canon MF 8350 are found here.
