I need to remove my sim card on my iPad2 in order to apply some more data. I have the tool. I wanted to know the protocal for doing this. Must I first power off the iPad to do any removing or replacing of the micro Sim card?

You don't have to turn irt off to take out the sim. I constantlt swap between three sim cards and never turn it off while doing so. It is not needed.

In the early iPhone models, it was neccessary to turn off the phone when changing sims. Now with the current iPads/iPhones, you no longet have to.
I have three sim cards, one from Verizon, AT&T and T-mobile and I swap them whenever I want without turning off the iPad. It is no longer needed.
