How can I change the iCloud ID that my Macbook Pro wants me to log into when I reboot my computer? - it appears only the password can be changed.....

MacBook Pro, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)

To change the iCloud ID, go to System Preferences>iCloud, sign out, then sign back in with the ID you want to use.

But when you sign out do you lose data? It says everything will be erased, this is the confusing part, I just want to change

the ICloud ID for security reasons.
