anyone putting their osx "swap files" on a separate HDD? any improvement?

wondering whether logic's performance would improve?

G4 450DP. 1.5 G ram., Mac OS X (10.4.7), digidesign, motu, apogee, alembic, oberheim, tannoy, mesa boogie.

With 4.5G on my system, there's virtually no swap activity. Putting swap on a separate drive will only make a significant difference if there's significant swap activity, which generally isn't the case on a system that runs Logic smoothly.

Check your 'page outs' number in 'top' or Activity Monitor. If it's not increasing, optimizing swap performance won't yield any benefit.
