Just got my 5s today and am upset to see that the touch screen is unresponsive when phone is charging on apple issued charger in home. It is functional when hooked up to car charger. Is this odd? Is there a setting I can change? Problem is annoying enough I may return the phone. Please help

^^ What they said, this is not expected behaviour. I would suggest trying it with a different charger to isolate if the issue is in relation to the iphone or the charger. Whichever part is faulty you can have replaced at your local Apple Retail Store.
Do a quick reset of the settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings

My friend with a iphone 5s, 32gb, has the same issue with his own stock charger and cable too!
I saw this problem too the other day on my iPhone 5s, I was trying to type when it was on charge and it was like it has a virus on the phone, as soon as I pulled the power cord out it worked fine, I hope there is a fix for this soon! 😢
Yes, the fix is to take it to an Apple store and get a warranty replacement. This is a failure of YOUR PHONE, not a general problem and not something that can be fixed remotely.

I've noticed this happens to me on my home but not at the office, car charger or somewhere else. I believe this is an electrical variation issue, I've tried iphone and ipad charger and issue still ocurrs. Any new idea?
I have had this problem on my iPod3, iPod5, iPhone4, iPhone 5, and now with new iPhone 6plus.
On AC charger (all Apple equipment), connected to outlet, connected to tripplite LC1800 line conditioner, and two different Backup UPSs.
I really don't think this would be fixed with a new device.
I just have to use a computer connection if I want to use my devices while charging, or in the car.
Don't hold your breath for this to be fixed.
