Can you erase your iphone but leave one app on the handset?

so when people are selling these with this app on it, they are truly selling rights to their apple account with someone ... and this is why it is going for so much on ebay, hackers?

The license allows sharing content between family members on devices that are registered to the same Apple ID account. If he left an app on the phone he is selling the buyer would need to know your Apple ID and password every time the app needed updating. And any in-app purchases would be charged to your credit card.

Followup: I now see why he wants to leave it. Flappy Birds has been withdrawn from the market by its creator. Phones that have it installed are selling at premium prices. but it's still illegal to distribute an app that you own to anyone other than family members who share your Apple ID account.

Actually, when they remove the "account" from their Apple ID, they would cause the phone to be unusable. Anyone who purchases a phone for the purposes of having that App on their phone is taking a BIG chance.

eBay doesn't allow it. They require that devices be wiped before being offered for sale. They've been pulling any iPhones posted as having Flappy Birds still on them.
