Stop speculating and find the answer for yourself.

Connect the device to the computer.

Launch iTunes.

Select the Summary tab for the device.

Look at the bottom of the screen at the bar graph and see what is taking up space.

Then manage the space on the device.

If "Other" is taking up a large amount of space (Greater than 1GB), restore the device.

What is the issue with reading that? Does it not provide sufficient detail?

On the device, Settings > General > Usage will detail exactly which apps are taking up space and how much.

There really is no need to be snarky, and at level 7 one would expect a little more class.

What is your question for us, your fellow users? FYI, these are not discussion forums, they are for users to assist other users.

Diesel vdub, if you had bothered to read his post you would realize that you are not being helpful at all. Please don't state the obvious. We all know about that bar.

gturley, I am having the same problem. I have deleted over 10GB of photos on my phone and that did not free up any space. That bar diesel is so smug about still says I have 10GB of photos. If you have found a solution for the problem, please share.

The last step vdub recommended was to restore the device. Please advise if you have done that...

Ultimately my iphone had to be replaced. That's how bad this issue is. You would think a level 7 would know this, instead of being such a snarky rude pr*ck

vdub, I don't know what you are talking about. None of my comments have been removed. But you are the one who was rude and condescending toward Copperrock. And you are the one that hasn't been helpful on this discussion. I actually posted something constructive (telling Copperrock that the issue required a new phone for me). These forums are for people to find help for their issue, not have some rude person make obvious, condescending comments while not even being helpful at all.

I've experienced the same problem on my iPhone 5S 16GB (8.1.2).

"I deleted most pictures & videos from my camera roll, but that didn't free up any space".

Restoring my iPhone fixed the problem.

Aside from restoring my device the usage section says I have 5G but the total from the list = 2g says I have 400m free

where's the other 2.5G?

No iPhone currently on the market has 5G... it's not even a standard in use by the Telco's.

No iPhone has 5GB of total storage.

Please read the entire thread to which you replied, follow the advice already given and see where the "missing" storage space is.
