My Ipod 4th Gen is running slow

My Ipod is updated to 6.15, I believe. It's getting to the point where it takes a long time to do anything, and everything crashes. That's not an exageration, EVERYTHING crashes. Any suggestions?

First:

Periodically double click the home button and close all the apps in the recently used dock. Then power off and then back on the iPod. This frees up memory. The 4G only has 256 MB of memory.

Then as necessary

- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

- Restore from backup. See:

iOS: How to back up

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
