Q: I need help , my friend just gave me her old iPhone4 and she doesnt know the apple id or anything and i cant get into it . what do i need to do to be able to use it?

If you set it up as new and it's prompting you to enter an Apple ID and Password to proceed with no "Skip" option, then it may be Activation Locked.  This areticle covers this: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH13695  If its not the activation lock, you should be able to just restore the iPhone using recovery mode: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808  If it is the Activation Lock, you or your friend will have to figure out the password or reset it on appleid.apple.com or find the receipt to prove your own the iPhone then call Apple.
