Q: My CC Data-REMOVE IT

How do I know that Apple actually removes my CC data COMPLETELY from ALL of their sytems when I select "None" from the payment method section of my acct?

By selecting 'none' you are relating to that particular order.   The next order you place may carry a charge so they would need your details.

If you want to establish an account for free apps only there is a means of doing this ...  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534

If you have then deleted your CC details why should Apple endeavor to hold onto them?

    THanks for the rapid response.

I never use the App Store, except for this one recent purchase.  So I don't want my CC details lingering around.  I will provide my CC number every time I make a purchase (which I anticipate to be seldom).

Why should Apple endeavor to hold onto them? Because lots of businesses just like to hold onto as much data as they can.  Even though it is not justified.

After all (and I have read HT2534) even to create an acct that will NOT have any CC details, one still HAS to provide that info.  And then afterward one can delete the CC info.  WHy do they do it like this?  I DON'T KNOW!  But I am fed up with the businesses that do unacceptable things.  When Apple insists on the CC info to create this kind of acct, then it can only mean that they still want to have it.

You are sadly mistaken and stating a falsehood. By following the instructions in the Knowledge Base article HT2534 you can create a new Apple ID and iTunes/Mac App Store account and NEVER have to provide a bank card.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

"sadly mistaken and stating a falsehood"

    1  I am NOT sad

2  I might well be mistaken, possibly, but I am NOT mistaken in what I experienced

3  I DID have the results that I stated

4  It is not a "falsehood" if I believe what I stated

5  I see you have a newer OS than me; possibly there is difference in behaviour with a diff OS

6  I probably couldn't EXACTLY follow the HT2534 since I ALREADY had my acct existing.  But at this point, after having tried so many things, I can't recall EXACTLY ALL of my keystokes

7  Anyway, I have removed my CC data (I think).

8  None of this really interests me because it is peripheral to my concern

Once again, thanks for taking the time to respond.

It is not a "falsehood" if I believe what I stated

Millions of people believe falsehoods constantly. Whether you believe it or not has nothing to do with whether it is false. The fact that it is false makes it false.

We now know that you have stated two falsehoods. You have falsely stated that you followed the instructions in KB article HT2534, the instructions provided by Apple to achieve an account without supplying a bank card. The instructions explicitly state to create a new Apple ID, they were not for use with an existing Apple ID. And you also falsely stated that the instructions require you to supply bank card information and then remove the information, when the instructions do no such thing.
