Do you have a question for these user-to-user forums ?

For what country was the 'email promo' for ? To be able to use a country's store you need to be in the country and have a billing address in that country on your account - all content is licensed to Apple by the content providers/rights-holders on a country-by-country bases, and the prices for content are set by the content providers.

And free trade and court decisions over hardware pricing has nothing to do with licensing or pricing of digital downloads. Those are controlled completely and solely by whoever holds the rights to the content in a given country.  If whoever offered that promotion made it valid only in a given country, then there's nothing you, Apple, or anyone else can do to make it valid and get it honored in any other country.

Contact whoever offered that promotion and ask them in what country or countries that offer is valid. If they say it's not valid in Australia, then it's not.

The Email was from US site the link took me to the "purchase" site of the promo film site in the US, sent me back to Australia to an "unavailable" site.  rubbish I can purchase software; movies & anything I please from anywhere I like Adobe etc Apple lost the case and was ordered to level the playing field, they did this with all prices for hardware and fell in line with US site ...but not their iTunes site   I've being paying $10.00 extra for each movie I bought, even with rate of exchange at best 20c in the $.... 450 movies @ $10.00 extra = Not Happy

You apparently got onto a US mailling list and were inapplicably sent a promotion only valid in the US. And pricing is set primarily by the movie distributors in Australia, with many other factors also involved. In any case, this isn't the place to discuss international pricing issues.

There's nothing any of us here, your fellow users, can do about this. If you want to complain to Apple, use their feedback page:

So your saying Apple don't own the rights in Australia? or it's a legal loop-hole used to goudge  extra money out of us That promo came from iTunes US. and it was the standard movie available media release and it highlights the inconsisties in their trading policies. Not Happy

No, Apple does not own the rights to any iTunes Store content other than the apps or videos that Apple has developed themselves. They license the vast majority of the content from the record company, movie studio, etc.

There is nothing further anyone here can say, so please let it drop at this point. Discussion of Apple policies is prohibited in these forums, these being user-to-user technical support forums, and continued complaining and argument is likely to do nothing but get your thread removed by the Communities Hosts. Again, if you want to complain to Apple, use their feedback page.

Not that I'm on anybody's promotional mailing list but if a third party site asked you to sign in are you sure it was a legitimate site and not phishing, especially if it then bounced you to an unavailable link?
