Apple Configurator - setting up carts

I am trying to fine tune my instructions on how to setup iPads on a Bretford cart. Any feed back would be great.

Thanks

-----------------------------------------

  1. Make sure that no iPads are plugged in
  2. Make sure you have your itunes account setup
    1. Authorize you iTunes account on the computer that you will be using to manage the iPads
    2. Download your free and paid Apps
(make sure you use the same iTunes Apple ID in iTunes as you do in Apple Configurator)
    3. Quit iTunes
  3. Connect all iPads in the cart
  4. Open Apple Configurator
    1. Go to Prepare tab
    2. Under Settings
Name iPad (I give it the teachers name and a - mark, I add the numbers in step 6)
Supervision: ONCheck box Allow devices to connect to other Macs (this is helpful when a teacher wants to download a movie off student iPad onto their teacher computer)
      iOS should be Latest
      Check box Erase before installing
Restore: Don’t Restore BackupCheck profile(s) - (this is where you add your wifi network and restrictions)
    3. Hit the Prepare button (this is going to take about an hour)
    4. Quit Configurator
  5. iTunes Sync
    1. Open iTunes
    2. The Welcome to Your New iPad screen will appear
    3. Click on Setup as New iPad, hit Continue
    4. Click on Get Started
    5. You must do this for each iPad
    6. Quit iTunes
  6. Name the iPads
    1. Open Configurator
    2. Go to the Supervise tab
    3. Name the iPads (it is easier to pull the all out, and plug one at a time to name)
The iPads do not show up on the list in the order that they are plugged in
  7. Preparing the Master iPad (use iPad #1)
    1. Remove iPad #1
    2. Go through the registration sequence
    3. Go to Settings
      1. Go to Restrictions
      2. Turn on
We use the same code for all of our carts
      3. Turn off the ability to delete apps
We add the code so that they students cannot add a code themselves and lock us out of the iPads
    4. Plug back in iPad
    5. Go to the Apps tab
      1. Add any new apps and VPP codes
      2. Check all boxes
      3. Hit Refresh (this takes over an hour depending on how many apps you are installing)
    6. Remove iPad and put Apps into folders (examples below of what we did for our school)
      1. Apple
      2. Chinese
      3. Mathematics
      4. Science
      5. Spanish
      6. Grade level folder
      7. Put main folders in the Dock (Apple, Mathematics, Grade level folder)
    7. Plug in iPad #1
    8. Do a backup, under the Prepare tab
      1. Click on iPad #1
      2. Click on the Settings tab
      3. Click on Restore and select Back Up...
      4. Name the backup (it would be a good idea to add the date)
  8. Clone iPads

    Click on Supervise tab

    1. Click on All iPads (#)
    2. Click on Apps tab
    3. Check all boxes for the Apps
    4. Under the Restore select your backup
    5. Click Refresh (this should take about an hour)
    6. Once they have all image, make sure you change the Restore option back to Don’t Restore Backup
