resolve error 1015

Hi folks - am unable to update iPhone 3g - error message 1015 appearing at the moment but have also had 'This device isn't eligible for the requested build'.

Have tried modifying the 'hosts' line using sudo nano but to no avail.

Any help would be most appreciated in solving this isssue.
