I have a Canon MX870 Series printer that worked fin with my computer until today. I tried removing it and then re-adding it, but when I tried to add it, it only shows up as Bonjour Scanner! Does anyone know why?

The printer component of the MX870 uses a Canon proprietary protocol called canonijnetwork to advertise the printer on the network. This protocol is included with the MX870 driver. This protocol can take longer than Bonjour to advertise the printer, some times up to 15 seconds longer. So if you have this add printer window open and a second MX870 does not appear after 30 seconds, then try turning off the MX870 and unplugging the power cord for several minutes. While it is off, restart your Mac and then power the MX870 back on. See if this now makes the printer component appear.
If this action does not help, then download and install the MX870 printer driver.
