Ipod classic battery

I got a new iPod classic for christmas this past year. Now, however, my ipod won't charge on my computer. When I plug it in, the charging symbol appears on the ipod but no battery life is restored. I have tried different cables, different usb ports, and have reset my ipod to factory settings. Nothing seems to be working. Could someone please help?
