I changed my apple ID. Now cannot lig into icloud from any device. I am asked for P/W for former ID. My current apple p/w mot accepted.
I deleted old account on iphone and ipad and new account name works for email but not icloud???
Anny suggestions?

You deleted the old iCloud account on both devices? If you did, then just sign in with your new ID. Settings>iCloud>Sign in with the new ID.
I had deleted the account on both devices but failed to setup the new account on one of them. The icloud problem was solved but what i thought to be a related issue was not.
When I try to update my apps or podcasts I am asked for my apple P/W while presented my original ID for apple. That was back when they did not use an email address.
It was indicated by apple, when they went to email IDs that the original ID was still valid but I don't use it.
So I guess my current issue is how do I kill it?

That's a different issue. Apps are forever tied to the Apple ID they were purchased under. So, if you change your ID, when it's time to update apps, you have to sign out of the Store, and sign back in with the ID the apps were downloaded under.
The only alternative is to delete the apps, and then redownload them using the new ID.
