I have a HP G55 Officejet All in One printer.
I'm told HP has stopped making drivers for the latest Apple operating systems.
I was wondering if I installed Windows xp and the correct G55 HP drivers for windows xp could I use the printer
under bootcamp or would I still need drivers for the Apple OS.
Thanks for any help I trying to decide what which way to go to update my desktop. Go Apple or fight my way through Windows 7 or 8

With Windows installed in Bootcamp, you don't need drivers for OS X. You print directly from Windows.
But you won't be able to install XP in Bootcamp with 10.9. You have to install Win7 or Win8.
Dang This just keeps getting more and more expensive. I have windows xp install disk but not an install disk of Windows 7.
I love the G55 printer and hate to have to stop using it if I go to an Apple machine. Any ideas anyone?????
There is an alternate driver suite for Mac OS X known as Gutenprint. It lists your G55 as a supported model so this would let you print directly from 10.9.
Note that the Gutenprint v5.2.9 installer is not digitally signed, so the Gatekeeper facility inside Mavericks will block its installation. To get past Gatekeeper, you can hold down the Control key and click on the Gutenprint installer. A pop-up window will appear. Select Open and you will then have the option to install the Gutenprint driver.
How reliable is Gutenprint? I don't want to find myself in the same mess I often find myself with Windows add ons.
