Q: iPhone 3Gs not syncing with iTunes on new Windows 8 pc...

I'm trying to sync my old iPhone 3Gs with a new windows pc ruinning iTunes.  iTunes fails to recognize the 3Gs, however the same pc using the same cable quickly recognizes my newer iPhone 5s.  Any suggestions?  Thanks!
