Connecting RN-42 Bluetooth chip to iOS app

I am trying to connect a RN-42 Bluetooth chip from Sparkfun Electronics to my iOS app that I am writing in xcode. Ultimately I am my goal is to transmit data from my Mini IMU (accelerometer, gyroscope) sensor over a bluetooth connection to my iPhone. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

iPhone 5s, iOS 7.0.4

Hi Samwind, actually i was also trying to configure non APL RN42 module so that apple can see my device and can pair to it. As i want to write iAP on my MCU and don't want to use the APL version of RN42. Like you said you were able to configure RN42 and your apple can see it and can also pair with it. Can you please share what configuration you did with RN42.

I tried SC,0024\r and SD,0704 setting , after this apple can see it but can not pair. Please let me know what else you changed, Thanks

Hi, on my blogg I have posted the steps that you can do to get this to work. It is for the API chipset within the module, to activate.

The bad thing is that i don't think that iOS supports other than low power BT-modules, such as ble112, ble113… ( Must be bluetooth 3.0 or higher )

If anyone has some code for serial communication with this module for and app, please post the code 🙂
