mini-displayport female to hdmi male adapter

I have an older monitor with a DVI port. I already bought a DVI-thunderbolt cable for my Macbook. Works great.

However, I need to switch to my dell laptop time to time, which features an HDMI port. The easiest thing to do is adding a mini-displayport female to hdmi male adapter to the cable.

I can't find such adapter anywhere (only the opposite). Please help.

Note: please do not suggest using the VGA ports in either the monitor or the laptop... they totally screw image quality.

Yes, that is my option number 3... I see actually four possible solutions:

1) use a mini-displayport female to hdmi male adapter

2) A DVI KVM. Nice but expensive

3) Switch DVI cables every time I switch laptops. Cumbersome, as the DVI conector in the monitor's back is nicely hidden. Also, unplugging and plugging DVI conectors frequently ain't a good idea...

4) Using VGA for dell laptop (graphics suck)

I want to make sure 1 is out before considering any other.

HDMI to Mini DisplayPort converters are available, but not cheap.

I just thought there is another solution: DVI to HDMI cable + HDMI female to Thunderbolt male... both of those exist and are inexpensive. I hope I don't lose quality doing so many signal conversions...

DVI and HDMI use the same digital video signals, so there is no loss of image quality. You will do the switching at HDMI instead of DVI.
