I have made all the connections, but Apple TV doesn't recognize my Apple ID and password although it is correct and has been changed via http://iforgot etc, but it still will not let me turn on Home sharing even though Homesharing is on in iTunes

I have made all the connections. Our Apple TV has been working but all of sudden our TV shows, movies would play then stop and disconnect. I unplugged the Apple TV and then plugged it back in and then it starting playing the movie and/or TV show again. Now it will not turn on Home Sharing from the TV although Home Sharing is turned on in Itunes. It keeps saying it does not recognize the Apple ID and password even though I went into the system and changed the password and it accepted it and said it was changed, but everytime I go in to connect it doesn't recognize it. We have not been able to use the Apple TV for the past several weeks.
