Q: My 2008 iMac sounds the chime, shows the Apple logo on a grey screen, then shows a grey circle with a line through it an doesn't boot. Don't know what to do next.

My iMac won't boot. I have tried putting my DiskWarrior DVD in and starting the computer holding the "c" key down wihile it is powering up. The DVD started to make encouraging sounds like it was trying to boot from it. Then a grey circle comes on the screen and there is a sound of the DVD attempting to read and failing. Now the DVD is stuck in my computer and I can't get it out.

Any suggestions as to what to do next?

iMac (20-inch Mid 2007), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)

If you can't eject a CD or DVD or open the drive tray
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2097

restart the computer, then hold down the mouse button or trackpad button while the computer is starting up, until the disc is ejected.
