Kindle for Mac in the Mac App Store is currently Kindle for Mac 2, v1.10.3. Whereas, Kindle for Mac from the Kindle website is offering Kindle for Mac 3, v1.10.6. Neither is for an iOS device. The iTunes App Store has Kindle for iOS currently at v4.1.2.

The MAS version of apps is often at a different point than other of various developer's distribution streams.

You appear to me to be mixing the MAS version and the non-MAS versions. That doesn't usually work with the Kindle app. That one usually can't get the MAS version's library collection to import into the non-MAS version has been my experience. And someone less experienced may not realize that until it's too late and they've flushed their books away.

Kappy I use these apps. I don't have anything mixed up. (I'm not talking about iOS devices, I posted that in to show that the iOS version is numbered differently.) The OP has a Mac, not an iOS device. She has the Mac App Store version of Kindle for Mac.

Go back and reread what I wrote. Amazon is distributing Kindle for Mac from it's own website and through the MAS. They are at different version numbers and they are not interchangeable. That happens to be the case with many developer's apps distributed both through the MAS and other streams. If the OP downloads the version that you linked she, will loose any books that she may have added to her current collection using the MAS version that she has. The version you linked cannot import the MAS version's collection.

Thank you Kappy and Dahveed for your help. I probably should have been more specific. I have a both an iPad as well as an iPhone in addition to a Mac Book Pro.

I purchased a book in Mobi format from an online retailer that was not Amazon. I downloaded it to my Mac Book. I then dragged the downloaded file from "downloads" to the "send to kindle" app on my Mac Book. The Book syncs up with my iPad and my iPhone but not my Mac Book.

All content purchased through Amazon syncs perfectly and shows up on my Mac Book kindle app. The content not purchased through Amazon syncs perfectly with my iPad and iPhone but will not sync with my Mac Book kindle app.

I was told by Amazon customer service I had an outdated version of the Kindle app and that was the reason. They said I had to go to the apple store to get the most up to date version. This ofcourse was not correct as shown by both Kappy and Dahveed.

I have since gone to the Kindle down load link at the Amazon website as provided by Kappy

This application is a more current version than I had but it still does not allow me to sync a book purchased in Mobi format from a non Amazon retailer.

Anyone have any further insight into my problem?

Dahveed, you said you use these apps. Do you have any other useful information that can solve my issue?
