Mac Mini Grey screen flashing ?

Hi Mac Mini froze whilst usingh EyeTv nothing worked apart from power off, when switched back on got Grey Screen and Flashing ?

Tried all Apple online solutions nothing worked apart from:

When power off then hold option key and power back on get request for wifi network and password then after inputtin this nothing else happens other than airport icon along side the request bar goes from grey to black.

Tried inserting original instyall DVD looks like going to load but then ejects.

Any suggestions what can do because at moment my mini is just looking like an expensive paper weight.

Have booked a genius bar slot at local Apple store just in case.

Any help much appreciated

Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like the HD and optical drive are messed up

Try getting the optical drive to work so you can boot for the install DVD'

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2801

If you can't get the installed optical drive to work then:

- If you have another Mac with FireWire and an optical drive boot that Mac in Target Disk mode and connect the two via FireWire and use that Macs optical drive to bot from

- Get another optical drive and connect to the Mini and boot from that drive

- Create a booted USB device using another Mac and boot from that.

I have a 2009 Mini and its optical drive died (just rejected all disks)
