iTunes 11.1.4 - Video sound sputters and dies

Hi everyone,

I'm having the devil of a time trying to get my videos to play properly anymore. The music seems to be fine, but when I'm watching a purchased video such as a movie or tv show the sound slowly sputters and disappears. It will reappear breifly if I pause the video and then press play again. I've looked everywhere for a solution but I haven't been able to find one yet. This problem cropped up on the new version of iTunes (11.1.4). It worked fine as iTunes 11.1.3. I am currently running Windows 8.1 on a Sony.

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
