Feb 15, 2014 5:59 PM in response to AppleUserHELP007by Ralph Landry1,That could be a faulty charger, can you use a different charger? If that is not an option, take the iPad and charger to an Apple store genius bar and have the technicians test them.

Feb 15, 2014 6:50 PM in response to AppleUserHELP007by Texas Mac Man,★HelpfulCould be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery

At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. In rare instances when using the Camera Connection Kit, you may notice that iPad does not charge after using the Camera Connection Kit. Disconnecting and reconnecting the iPad from the charger will resolve this issue.

Jul 16, 2014 4:23 AM in response to Texas Mac Manby giromondo,I have the same problem. My iPad 2 used to charge in about 4 hours from 20 % to full and battery doctor still gives the same estimate but then soon revises the figure up to over 6 hours but actually takes nearer 10. This is with the original charger (which does get hot). It does seem to charge faster from a TeckNet 7 port USB 3 hub which has two extra ports just for charging.

Jul 16, 2014 4:27 AM in response to AppleUserHELP007by UberCreepy,This actually happens to me a lot. The problem is that your ipad comes with a SPECIFIC charger for that CERTAIN ipad. I tested out using my bros iPad mini charger vs mine. My ipad charger 56% in an hour. for the iPad mini it charged 22%. trust me. Just use the one apple gave u. Best solution YET.

Jul 16, 2014 4:35 AM in response to UberCreepyby Skydiver119,That's because the charger for a mini is half the power of the charger for a full sized iPad.
the mini charger's strength is akin to that of an iPhone. 5W. the iPad charger is 10-12W -
Jul 16, 2014 4:36 AM in response to Skydiver119by UberCreepy,YYes, BUT! The iPad mini is a newer generation than the ipad 2! My bro has the LATEST MOODEL

Jul 16, 2014 4:37 AM in response to UberCreepyby giromondo,That isn't the issue.
I am using the originally supplied charger for the iPad 2 which used to work fine but has recently started taking much longer to charge. Anyway, an iPad mini uses a lower powered charger than a full size iPad so using the charger from a mini or an iPhone is a very bad idea,
My question is why is it now taking much longer to charge using the same charger and cable as before? I always close unnecessary apps after use so they don't drain the battery and usually get at least 4 days between charges. It worked ok for a few weeks after upgrading to iOs 7 so that shouldn't be the cause.

Jul 16, 2014 4:39 AM in response to giromondoby UberCreepy,The battery could have just died. That's actually happened to my cousin ( sware it's true) and he bought a new one and it charged faster that it's supposed to. Its an epic charger!

Jul 16, 2014 4:40 AM in response to giromondoby Skydiver119,It could very well be the battery. They do have a finite number of charge cycles before they don't work as well. It could be worth your while to make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out.

Jul 16, 2014 5:25 AM in response to Skydiver119by giromondo,Just tried again with the original charger. Started off ok at 3+ hours and gradually reducing then suddenly jumped to over 8 hours. Switched to the USB hub and it's back down to 3 hours. Looks as though it's the original charger which is failing. That's OK while I'm at home but no use while travelling.
