How to extract JUST photos from an iTunes phone backup?

Hi,

One day I completely erased my iPhone 4S (I gave it to a friend.)

Well anyways I forgot to transfer the precious photos to my Windows 7 laptop! I didn't want to back it up, as I only wanted the photos. Well how stupid of me for forgetting to transfer! But LUCKILY I have a recent backup of everything on iTunes on my laptop. How do I JUST extract the photos from that complete backup on iTunes? So does anyone recommend some GOOD, FREE, NON-DODGY third party software for my windows 7 laptop? Please give me STEP BY STEP...

I don't have the iPhone anymore, all I have is: my Windows 7 laptop and the LATEST iTunes version. Help!

THANK YOU, KRISHNA.

iPhone 4S, iOS 7.0.4, Windows 7 PC, with LATEST iTunes!

Where are iTunes backups stored on your computer

The folder where your backup data is stored depends on the computer's operating system. Make sure the backup folder is included in your data-backup routine. iTunes places the backup files in the following places:

  • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backup/
The "~" represents your Home folder. If you don't see Library in your home folder, hold Option and click the Go menu.
  • Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\(username)\Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the Application Data folder, click Start, and choose Run. Type %appdata% and click OK.
  • Windows Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8: \Users\(username)\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\
To quickly access the AppData folder, click Start. In the search bar, type %appdata% and press Return.

Great solution. 🙂.

"I usually download via cnet.com"

MiKing, if I were you, I wouldn't download from sites like cnet.com or Softonics. You can read the reviews (if they are honest, which I do not know), but you should download from the developer site. Do not click the link, but type the address yourself. In a lot of threads is explained that the above mentioned sites are not to be trusted, they build in trackers and such. Also read about it in TheSafeMac.com.
